TILL BAUER

         „Martin,

         it's all psychological.

You yell barracuda, everybody says, "Huh? What?"

You yell shark, we've got a panic on our hands.

(Murray Hamilton as Mayer Larry Vaughn)

I am deeply inspired by the so called „new Hollywood“ era (around 1966 - 1979) and some insane pieces from the nineties, same for music made in this period, not to forget the french connection in the same time, like movies from René Clement and Henri Verneuil- but If I go on talking about all that you gonna need a bigger boat.

Because in this faster spinning lost world, where it's hard to keep up with the heat, where neither you nor me, nor all the presidents men, wanna feel like escapees from Jurassic Park, brought to life in another time, as an alien, having a total recall or a strange encounter of the third kind, chased by a deer hunter all the way down the Jacob´s Ladder, I try to break it down by law to the essence and hopefully come back to the future:

I used to like zoos as a  kid, but I´m not sure if they should live there or in human private places.

I do believe in the good force, the wisdoms of prophets which have been killed for their wisdom and the power of music, especially what earthlings call rock´n´roll. And that was it, what got me to play the drums. I really loved it. Formed a band, got a deal, played endless shows und beaten the crap outta the drum set until blood was covering the snare head. I won´t list all the drummers that I adore,

I don´t wanna bother you with that 19“ nerd talk.

What got me into this utterly bizarre line of work,

where probably Martin Sheen´s eyes, gazing while sitting on that boat going down the Nung River.

I know that everything, no matter what, is possible with the thing formally known as

„love“.

Although it´s tricky sometimes to keep the faith and stay in the flow.

„Bitches Brew“

came to me when I was 17-  it´s something that won´t let me go after so many years. Incredible.

Silence

is so interesting- it can be scary or just too beautiful. Speaking of which:

Listening to the sensitive sound of metal clambs, ticking on ship masts of resting boats, moved by the light breeze in a harbor at night, while one dozes in the realm of „not want“ could be good.

In case you ask yourself what it´s all about, remember the great Rutger Hauer as Roy Batty:

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.

Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.

I watched C-beams glitter in the dark

near the Tannhäuser Gate.

All those moments will be lost in time,

like… tears in rain.

Time to die.
